The Ringwood Special Services is a student-centered department that investigates student needs and utilizes evidenced based decisions to employ best practices, while collaborating with and supporting all stakeholders including students, families, and staff.
I am fortunate to have been employed by the Ringwood Public Schools since 2009 and am proud to call Ringwood my professional home. I previously enjoyed serving as case manager / school psychologist in all grade levels across all four schools. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Dickinson College, a Masters of Arts in Educational Psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership, as well as, a School Psychologist Certification, all from Montclair State University. I have also served as adjunct professor at Montclair State University at both the undergraduate and graduate level since 2007. I am committed to see that every child has the opportunity and encouragement to reach his/her full potential. It is a blessing to be able to work in a district with amazing students, a dedicated staff, and supportive families.

I have worked in the Ringwood School District for the past nine years in both the Special Services Department and the Board of Education office. Prior to working for the Ringwood School District, I was an Administrative Assistant in corporations such as ThomasNet.com, Computer Associates, Kingston Technology, Newell Rubbermaid and American Cyanamid. I attended Passaic County Community College and Coastline Community College. In the community, I am a volunteer with organizations through my church and the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. I am proud to support the students of the Ringwood School District.

I am happy to serve the Ringwood community as a School Psychologist on the Child Study Team. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Art in School Psychology and an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology, all from Rowan University. Advocating for our students and building strong relationships with our families are two of the most important responsibilities I have the privilege of undertaking in the Ringwood community. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Ringwood’s amazing students and families.

I have had the pleasure of working in the Ringwood School district since 2008. I have had the opportunity to teach in all four schools. My experience began teaching first grade at Peter Cooper. Throughout the years I have taught first and third grade at both elementary schools, as well as the enrichment program. My experience then stretched to teach fifth grade at Hewitt School for several years. I hold a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology and a K-5 Elementary Teaching Certificate. While teaching in Ringwood, I went back to complete my Master’s Degree in Education, concentrating on Students with Learning Disabilities where I obtained my Learning Disabled Teachers Consultant Endorsement. I now have the privilege of currently working as the Learning Disabled Teacher Consultant for the Ringwood Public School District.

I am a licensed School Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the pre-school, elementary, intermediate, middle school, and out-of-district academic settings. In addition, I have served the community of Ringwood for more than 10 years as Child Study Team Coordinator coupled with years of experience as an Anti-Bullying Specialist, holding both my MSW and LSW. In the community, I am a member of the Board of Directors at the Center for Family Resources/Head Start for the past two years. I am highly qualified and skilled at developing individual education plans, identifying at risk students, social assessment, parent-teacher consultation, and counseling. I bring a clinical and education perspective to my work with children,
adolescents, and families having obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Significant prior training and experience in private practice, mental health clinics, hospital, group home, and court room settings round out my expertise in planning for and facilitating the personal, social, and academic growth of your children. I am truly passionate about and committed to my Child Study Team work, and take great pride in serving as a support/advocate for your child and family within the Department of Special Services, and the Ringwood Public Schools. Mrs. Mahan has been a school social worker with experience in public and private education in New York and New Jersey since 2005. She has an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island and a masters degree in Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. She specializes in psychotherapy with children, adolescents and their families.

I am happy to have been supporting the Ringwood Public Schools since 2018. I have been fortunate to have a great range of professional experiences from early intervention to supporting families transitioning their adult children to a residential setting. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey where I also worked full time with Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center (DDDC). After a year off, I attended Montclair State University to complete a Master’s Degree and obtained my certification in School Psychology. I advocated to work at each grade level from preschool to high school as a school psychologist to have a rounded experience. My professional array of experiences, the eagerness of understanding the role of Child Study across grades and a genuine passion for this work all contribute to my abilities to serve the Department of Special Services. I am looking forward to another great year with the Ringwood School district.
Ms. Laurie Holman- Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant / Behaviorist
Mrs. Holman has been working in special education in the New Jersey Public Schools since 2009. She was a self- contained autism teacher for 4 years prior to transitioning into a Behavior Analyst position. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Rowan University and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Elementary Education and Special Education from William Paterson University. Mrs. Holman earned her Masters of Arts with a concentration in Special Education and learning consultant endorsement at Caldwell University, and completed her coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Education. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant.
In her free time you can find her chasing after her toddler and cheering on her husband at football and track events.
