Dear Martin J. Ryerson Middle School Families,
It is my privilege to introduce myself as the principal of Martin J. Ryerson Middle School in the Ringwood Public School District. I am truly honored to join the Ryerson community and look forward to working alongside our students, families, staff, and community partners.
I have spent the majority of my career at the middle school level, and I believe these years represent one of the most important and transformative chapters in a young person’s life. Middle school is a time when curiosity deepens, students begin to take meaningful risks, confidence starts to take shape, and young people discover more about who they are and who they can become.
I began my educational career as a middle school mathematics teacher, teaching students in grades 6, 7, and 8. From there, I had the opportunity to serve as a K–12 Instructional Supervisor, where I worked closely with multiple departments, including Mathematics, Science, Comprehensive Health and Physical Education, Music, Technology, and Gifted and Talented. I later served for several years as a middle school assistant principal. Each of these experiences has shaped my approach to education and strengthened my belief in the importance of collaboration, relationships, and a shared commitment to student success.
As principal, I am passionate about creating a school environment where decisions are made based on what is best for our students. I want our students to feel a strong sense of belonging while being encouraged to explore new ideas, embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and celebrate their growth.
I am excited to serve as your principal, and I cannot wait to begin this journey with you and your children. Together, we will continue to work towards what is best for the children of Martin J. Ryerson Middle School. Sincerely, Courtney Risoli Principal, Martin J. Ryerson Middle School
